Parks and Recreation

There are many beautiful Parks and Trails right in our own backyard!

There are two great County owned parks in the 4th District:

Oak Park

Mature Oak trees enhance this rustic 100.5 acre open space park that is surrounded by gentle, rolling hills and an abundance of coastal sage scrub brush. This natural environment supports a multitude of California native wildlife species, such as a raptors, roadrunners, sagebrush lizards, and alligator lizards. The park is ideal for group RV camping in a secluded setting.

Hikers, equestrian riders, and mountain bikers enjoy this rugged and rural park, which features picnic areas, an equestrian arena and an RV campground with 16 full hook up sites.

Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District

Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District is a separate government agency from the City of Simi Valley, formed as a Special District in 1961 for the specific purpose of providing parks and recreation activities to the communities of Simi Valley and Oak Park.

Since that time, the Park District has established 50+ parks and preserved over 5,600 acres of open space that allows for hiking, biking, horseback riding, and wildlife preservation. Additionally, decades of Simi Valley history has been preserved at the Strathearn Historical Park and Museum, where docent lead tours are available, and at the Santa Susana Train Depot where railroad enthusiasts can tour a depot built in 1903 with historic exhibits and miniature train displays.

The Park District has an equestrian center, swimming pool, two golf courses, two dog parks, three community centers, numerous ball fields, picnic pavilions and other recreation amenities. In addition to the many facilities available for public enjoyment and reservation, the Park District also offers hundreds of diverse recreation programs and large community events such as concerts, seasonal fairs, and outdoor movies
