Ventura County Fire & Simi Valley Police Department collaborate on safety vehicle

VENTURA, Calif. – On Tuesday, March 26th, 2024, the Ventura County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the donation of a 2018 Dodge RAM Utility Truck from the Ventura County Fire Department to the Simi Valley Police Department. This item was led and presented by District 4 Supervisor Janice Parvin.

Donating the Fire District’s surplus heavy-duty utility truck to the Simi Valley Police Department (SVPD) will provide them with the ability to carry needed equipment to the scene of an emergency safely and expeditiously and is an effective use of County and Simi Valley Police Department resources.

The donation of this heavy-duty utility truck for use by the SVPD’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) from the Ventura County Fire District’s Tactical Emergency Medical Support (TEMS) will help support both departments commitment to the safe resolution of high-risk situations. This includes the rescue of Law Enforcement Officers and the public in high hazardous areas firefighters cannot respond to alone.

“What’s really great about our County is that we collaborate, and this is a better use of the vehicle as opposed to placing it up for auction”, stated 4th District Supervisor Janice Parvin. “It is a public safety add-on.”
